Value Maritime has been granted approval in principle by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) for its onboard carbon capture system. The Filtree System filters out sulfur and 99% of particulate matter from the flue gasses of seagoing vessels, capturing up to 40% of their carbon dioxide emissions in a battery container onboard the ship. ABS’s endorsement shows that Value Maritime is compliant with their rules and requirements for onboard carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology, making the system available for more vessels and contributing to the decarbonization of shipping. This technology has the potential to capture over 90% of CO2 emissions in the future.
