Electric vehicle manufacturer NIU has unveiled its new carbon fiber scooters, the KQi Air X and KQi Air, at the IFA trade show in Berlin. The ultra-lightweight scooters, weighing just 25.8lbs and 26.2lbs respectively, are designed with a focus on portability without compromising on performance. They feature a carbon fiber frame and magnesium-crafted parts, offering a power to weight ratio over 40% lighter than competitors.
The KQi Air X and KQi Air have a top speed of 20 mph, a range of 31 miles, and a 700-watt max power. With wide handlebars, large tubeless tires, and a spacious deck, they provide maximum riding comfort. The scooters also come equipped with front-disc brakes for enhanced stopping power and regenerative braking for extended range and battery life. Additionally, they feature intelligent locking capabilities, allowing users to lock and unlock the scooters using an NFC card or via Bluetooth on their smartphone.
Powered by advanced 21700 lithium-ion battery technology, the KQi Air X and KQi Air offer extended battery life and fast charging capability, with a five-hour charging time. NIU’s smart app allows users to customize various features including kick-to-start or zero-start mode, battery charging capacity, top speed, regenerative braking levels, acceleration modes, and starting speed.
The scooters are constructed with precision using carbon fiber engineering, making them lightweight yet strong. The KQi Air X will be available in a carbon fiber base design with a gold accent, while the KQi Air will be available in a carbon fiber base design with silver or red accents. Pre-sales will begin on September 19th at Shop.NIU.com, with delivery and purchase options available in December 2023.
