Gold Standard is seeking a Senior Manager, Capacity Development to lead and oversee programs and initiatives aimed at developing the capacity of governments, private actors, and other entities to operate in and benefit from carbon markets and sustainable finance. The role will also focus on promoting the accessibility and integrity of these mechanisms. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to define and shape this new area of work, contributing to the development of an ambitious and equitable carbon market and efforts to address climate change and promote sustainable development.
Gold Standard is a standards body and thought leader that promotes climate and sustainable development projects. Established in 2003 by WWF and other international NGOs, Gold Standard’s standard, ‘Gold Standard for the Global Goals’, is used to measure, manage, and maximize climate and sustainable development impacts in carbon markets, corporate supply chains, and sustainable finance investments. The organization has over 2,000 projects in 90 countries, creating billions of dollars of shared value from climate and development action worldwide.

The Senior Manager, Capacity Development will be responsible for defining Gold Standard’s approach to capacity-building efforts, leading funded projects, managing team members and consultants, implementing projects, designing e-learning platforms, and establishing partnerships. They will also represent Gold Standard externally through various events.
The ideal candidate should have at least five years of experience in carbon markets, climate finance, international development, or related fields, as well as experience implementing funded projects. They should be experienced in working with countries in the Global South, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrate leadership capabilities, and have a strong drive to support Gold Standard’s vision.
