Alltech, a global animal health and nutrition company, has acquired a majority interest in Agolin, a Swiss company that produces plant-based nutrition solutions for improved herd performance, profitability and sustainability. Agolin’s essential oil blends have been scientifically proven to optimize feed intake and animal performance, including improved milk and meat production. Additionally, Agolin Ruminant was the first feed additive certified by The Carbon Trust for methane reduction in ruminants, and is now included in major international climate protection projects.
The alliance between Alltech and Agolin will enable farmers and ranchers to achieve their sustainability goals while supporting their cattle’s performance and profitability. The synergistic use of Alltech and Agolin’s nutritional technologies lead to benefits such as improved animal welfare, greater feed efficiency and conversion, enhanced milk and meat production, increased profitability, and a reduced environmental footprint, including a boost in nitrogen efficiency.
The acquisition will also expand the availability of Agolin to additional markets beyond Europe, Asia and North America where it already has a presence. The partners will also explore opportunities to develop new technologies that bring together the best of Alltech’s proven nutrition and Agolin’s essential oil blends. Agolin focuses on research and development to produce and market innovative feed additives based on plant active ingredients, which are effective and easy to use.
