In an effort to reduce carbon emissions, companies that exceed their emissions limit will be subject to a penalty. Companies will have the option to purchase carbon credits to offset their emissions or to trade their emissions with other companies. Carbon credits are a tradable commodity which represent a certain amount of carbon dioxide emissions and are used to offset emissions from other sources. Companies that purchase carbon credits can then use them to offset their emissions and reduce their carbon footprint. This system of trading and offsetting carbon emissions is known as carbon trading.

Carbon trading is a way for companies to reduce their emissions and meet their emissions targets. Companies can purchase carbon credits from other companies that have already reduced their emissions or from a carbon trading exchange. Companies that purchase carbon credits can use them to offset their own emissions and reduce their carbon footprint.
